My Current Favourite Basics

You all know I am a sucker for some basic pieces, so I thought I would share some of my current favourites today.

1. Urban Outfitters BDG Jeans. I mentioned these in a blog post a few weeks ago and haven't stopped wearing them since. They are hands down my current favourites. I love the fit over the bum, the length, the wash of them. They're comfy, wash well, and generally are amazing for a really good price too. I would 100% buy these in different colours!

2. Barbour White T-Shirt. This is one of the most luxurious white t-shirts I have. It's insanely soft and thick, an amazing fit and the sort of piece I can throw on everyday. It's a little more expensive than my usual plain white tees, but there is definitely a considerable different in quality between this and other ones I have.

3. High Top Converse. So I have had these forever and always loved them, but they have really been on heavy rotation for me this Summer. I am loving them with my Summer dresses, but also with more basic combinations like this one. The classic canvas ones are the best, and they absolutely look better once they're a little battered and well loved.

4. LNA. I discovered LNA while in LA and have been living in their basics ever since. The gorgeous body I shared last week, this incredible hoodie that makes me feel stylish on my super lazy days, and this long sleeved waffle top. They're all incredible quality, easy to wear, and have little design details that make them different to the usual basics you see.

5. These H&M Jeans. I also have them in a blue wash, and they're amazing!! SUCH a flattering fit, a really thick and heavy denim, and they look farrrrr beyond their £30 price tag. Go one size up from usual for the perfect fit. They wash really well too!

6. Loewe Espadrilles. They were a Testing Basics purchase and winner, and some of the comfiest shoes I own. They came to LA with me for my Summer outfits, and have been the pair I reach for most days for both ease and effortless style. They're well worth the investment and look amazing with everything you want to wear them with. Denim, dresses, shorts, suit trousers. You name it, they look good with it. No regrets with buying these whatsoever.

7. This white ASOS T-shirt. A far more affordable option to the Barbour one. And while the difference in quality is notable, this is still an amazing t-shirt for a great price. Flattering fit, washes well, just an all round great basic that you can buy a few of and have on rotation. You can never have too many white t-shirts!

8. & Other Stories Belt (pictured hereI have been wearing this a lot recently and it completely transforms outfits! I love the knot effect it has, making it a little more interesting than other black belts I have. I have mostly been wearing it with high waisted denim.

I'm Going Back!

This is the last set of photos I have from LA to share (I have even impressed myself with how well I have dragged this trip out), but worry not.... I AM GOING BACK!! Perhaps no surprises there, I think I was pretty clear in saying I wanted to go back the second I arrived home. It got to me like no other place has before, and I have been looking for an excuse to book another flight ever since I got back. Well, a really exciting project came through that was just the excuse I needed - so this time next week I will be flying back to LA, for a week of work and sunshine. BUT, the big difference is, I am going on my own.

I have never travelled alone like this before, but I feel it's an experience I want to have. I am fully aware I might hate it and feel incredibly lonely, but it's just a week and I'll cope. There is an equal chance I will love it, get loads of work done, and get to explore even more of this amazing city. Either way, I will of course document it all with you. And if any of you have travelled alone in this way before, please do let me know of any tips of tricks you think are useful!

I am getting myself a little (well, it's actually far from little!) Air B&B so I can properly set up a home for a week, where I can work, cook my own meals and generally pretend I live in LA for a little while. Work wise, it's perfect to create Summer content - I am going to film everyday, shoot whenever I can, take tonnes of rolls of film to work through, and generally try to be as creative as I can possibly be. I have so many ideas for videos and blog posts already which I am so excited about, and I am just generally feeling ready for an adventure and whatever that may bring.

Some guaranteed sunshine means the Summer wardrobe will be back out in full force again. There are so many pieces I have that so far I have only managed to wear once, that I am dying to get back out of the wardrobe. This gorgeous skirt from & Other Stories is far too good to only be worn once! This time I styled it up for an evening look (it kinda ended up looking like a dress), and the wind was on our side when we were shooting to really show off the shape of the skirt. If you watched my recent high end haul then you will have seen these insane Saint Laurent shoes already... but if not then say hello to my new two strap sandals!! I bought these while I was in LA, they were one of those no brainer pieces for me. I wear this style of shoe every Summer, and finding a pair that are comfortable is like gold at the end of the rainbow. These are the sort you can walk all day in, never tire of, and the subtle details like the square toe and patent leather makes them feel luxurious in an understated way. I am so glad I got them, and you can expect to see lots of them over the coming months as it goes without saying that these go with everything.

Shot From The... Middle Of Nowhere

Before we get going with this post I have to let you all know that these Gucci loafers are in stock!!!!! They've sold out in my size otherwise I would be re-ordering what are hands down the best shoes I have ever ever owned. Get them HERE

A break from the usual streetstyle, and into the Welsh hills! I spent this week in Wales with my Mum, which was mostly spent under clouds and lots of rain except for a odd breakthrough of blue skies and sunshine... which we managed to make the most of. I grew up in the countryside, in a small town near Halifax called Norland. There was no corner shop, just a local pub and working men's club, and a huge moor. I loved living there and growing up there, there was so much room to run around and play, and lots of my fondest childhood memories are from long walks along Norland Moor. We were not too far from civilisation, bang slap between Leeds and Manchester, and a stones throw from Halifax (not that you desperately want to spend much time there). But, despite having grown up in the middle of nowhere, I can announce that life is no longer for me. It's crazy how quickly you adapt to the convenience of living in a city centre. Wales was so beautiful, but I was near enough stir crazy by the time we left. And genuinely surprised at how much I had moved on from the lifestyle I grew up in, and into one of being able to nip out to wherever I need, where everything is open and phone signal is not something you have to worry about.

Don't get me wrong, I would go back to Wales. As I said, it was beautiful, and if you wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of a city and clear out the cobwebs with a bracing long walk... then this is the place for you. Despite almost loosing my mind due to going stir crazy, I do feel so refreshed from a break in the middle of nowhere. The frustration from the rain ruining most plans to create content has left me feeling inspired (although it's still raining as I write this), and all the fresh air did wonders for clearing my head.

And what could be a better way than to share an outfit I am loving than on the top of a hill? This body is from LNA and is insane, I love it. Since feeling more body confident I have really gotten into bodies like this one, and they look so good with some baggy denim. These Levi's are my oldest pair and are milessss too big. As you can tell this belt is holding them up and completely changing the shape of them by cinching things in so much. I have a big pile of clothes I plan on taking to the tailor to make them perfect for me, and these are at the top pf that pile. Feeling more body confident to wear skin tight tops like this makes it really fun to play around with baggy and unflattering bottoms, where I would have previously opted for a tight bottom and baggy top. And if I hadn't been wandering around in long grass I would have worn this with heels, the perfect evening look!

Finally, I have added a wishlist section to my blog! I've split it into two categories; £100 and under for the best high street pieces, and £100 and over for the things I look to invest in... mostly shoes, bags and jackets. I cam going to do my best to update it every single week too!
