In last week's vlog I asked you guys to let me know what posts you would like to see here. You all responded with so many amazing ideas, and I have so so many posts planned now. One of the most requested ones was to dish out some workwear inspo. As I don't work in an office, it's not too relevant to me, but I do think my wardrobe is very workwear inspired. You know how much I love tailoring, so this idea works so so well for me!! Thank you to everyone who suggested it!!
This post says "Part I", and I hoping to create many many looks for this and have it as an ongoing series that pops up in here every couple of weeks. As it's getting colder by the day, we are starting with some Winter inspo. Someone commented that they wanted some ideas for workwear looks that wasn't just suits - I guess when you're working in your 20s going out in a suit everyday can seem a little dull, not to mention very grown up... especially if like me you still think you're 19 and not 23. Anyway, with that in mind, I came up with this look. It is essentially a suit, but one that plays on proportions to make it feel more modern and youthful. The trousers are actually a really really dark navy blue colour, and I think wearing a non-matching suit is a great way to break things up a little bit.
So, the proportions. My beloved longline blazer, which would be my everyday go-to if I worked in an office. I think they are automatically wayyy more modern and stylish than a traditional blazer, and they are just as easy to wear as well. I went with a longline knit underneath it too, matching up hemlines like this is a simple way to make things feel cohesive and tied together, a great trick if you don't fancy going for a top/shirt tucked into your trousers. The longer length with the cropped trousers makes a really great, but awkward, combination. I love the awkwardness of it, I think it makes a simple combination look way more interesting and also really smart without being a traditional 'business smart' outfit. Finally, as it's winter, I went with some black boots. These are great to walk in all day so perfect for work, the snake print texture adds another dimension to the look while still being a classic style of boot.
So, I hope this was helpful and inspired some of you guys! I hope to have another workwear outfit coming your way next week too!
