Today's post is a rather hefty one, as are the outfits as I am focusing on layering up and keeping warm. I always find it hard to keep stylish in the depths of winter because the cold makes you feel so damn uncomfortable and it just shows all over everyone's face. This winter I have been keeping an eye out for outerwear that manages to be both stylish and actually keeps you warm. I have struck gold with two pieces of outerwear that I have been wearing lots and lots over the past few weeks.
First up is this faux fur number from & Other Stories. I love it, but in all honesty my hunt for the perfect faux fur jacket is far from over - I dream of a gorgeous oversized cream/brown coloured one that seems to be so hard to find, and I have trawled vintage shops and left no stone unturned when it comes to this. But until this comes into my life (pls be soon), this black one from & Other Stories has been a very welcome addition to my wardrobe. It's very warm, really easy to style and a flattering shape and cut despite the bulk of the piece - which is something I always struggle with a little when it comes to faux fur. Teamed with jeans, tailoring (these Topshop trousers are some current favourites of mine), whatever your preference is really - this coat is gonna work with it. Also, much to my joy, it looks fab with a blazer underneath it which means my all time favourite wardrobe piece can stay well within daily rotation.
Second up we have one that's even more practical (it wins the warmth points if I was going to closely compare the two). I tried this on in Topshop and ummed and ahhed about it for quite a while - it almost felt a little too practical looking and therefore like something I wouldn't actually get to wear. It took me a few attempts to find an outfit I really liked with it too, so I am not sure how easy I will find it to wear. BUT, the outfit I did settle on has been one I really loved. The skinny jeans definitely balanced out how bulky the jacket is- I am thinking that I will either stick with super skinny or super oversized jeans, some baggy Levi 501s could look amazing to really go for a bulky outfit.
This post will be my last before Christmas - I am gonna be back to you all on Wednesday with my next post. If you were wondering why there has been no Christmassy content on here, then this vlog explains it a little - and I hope you all haven't minded too much. I am hoping some time off over Christmas it going to make me feel extra inspired and full of ideas for the New Year, sometimes a little time away from things is the best thing for a little bit of inspo.
In the meantime, I hope you all have an amazing Christmas!
