Now I know so much I write and share is about the practical choices in life, but sometimes it's good to throw all of that to the wind. Sometimes being the key word here, because my wardrobe will always be focused on practicality and versatility. But sometimes, aren't the best pieces we have the ones that are neither of those things? Like this dress; it couldn't be any less practical. It's so low cut it verges on indecent (without some tit tape it would be indecent), it's also very short and a little see through making the choice you make with you knickers very limiting. The cuffs are huge so you will probably dip them in your coffee (or cocktail, this dress is definitely more suited to cocktail hour than a coffee stop), and unless you live in LA you will freeze to death in this. But, here I am, wearing it anyway. It's a dress I had seen on Tumblr so many times before and just loved everything about it. The draping details, the long sleeves, the fact it's a shirt dress (my all time fave) but just the sexiest and most vamped up one I have ever seen. So, I went for it, and that impracticality is what I love so much about it too. Whenever I wear something like this I feel like I am rebelling against my own blogging and wardrobe ethos, and from time to time it feels really good, and makes the pieces in my wardrobe that do that feel even more special to me.
It brings a certain element of fun into what I am wearing. I think I have used this analogy before, but it totally reminds me of going on a night out aged 17 in the most ridiculous outfits. We used to spend the week at school planning what we would wear. Get ready at one persons house; spend hours curling and backcombing hair, fake tanning using that Rimmel stuff that streaked and ran in the inevitable Leeds rain, putting on fake lashes before mastering the skill so they sat wayyy to high above the lash line. We would then have pre drinks, and wearing little more than a beer jacket, head out into Leeds in tiny dresses and heels we couldn't walk in. It was all so impractical, and so so much fun!
Of course, having a versatile wardrobe is always my priority, and will always be the focus on the content I create for you guys. But there is nothing wrong with having fun with things from time to time. I have caught myself in shops before staring at an item of clothing that is so not 'me', yet something draws me into it completely. It doesn't happen often, but sometimes it's good to roll it with and see if it's something that over time transforms a part of your wardrobe or style. And if it doesn't, there is always Depop!

As a finishing note, the ONLY redeeming factor to this dress is that it works being creased and un-ironed which frankly cancels out everything else.
