Another big post for you guys today! This time I am sharing some gorgeous pieces from Free People, a brand I am finding myself loving more and more. They have a huge selection online which is amazing, and I also went into store in New York to see lots of the pieces in real life (we do have a shop in London, but it's just a little'un). The quality of the pieces is amazing, it's 100000% a brand I am going to feature in Testing Basics soon so I can review it properly for you guys, because so far I am really impressed.
This military jacket for instance weighs a tonne. It is so thick, in the most amazing wool with proper metal hardware and faux fur detailing. It all contributes to the amazing structure you can really see in the top image where it just hangs perfectly off the body. I think you really tell the level of the detailing in these images; the stitching around the button holes, the huge breast pockets, it really is such a special piece.
As it was rather warm in New York I went with a lightweight shirt and my Levi's 501s skinnies (I cut the bottoms off these too). But I am planning on wearing this with a black turtleneck, some light wash jeans and black heeled ankle boots back at home. I think it's a great piece for day to day but also as it's so super fancy could be worn on an evening too. I also travelled out to New York wearing it and felt like a pilot which was a lot of fun, so you always have that option too!

A small break from Autumn/Winter looks for a little bit of Summer here. As I said it was pretty warm in New York, and this was my look for the first day there. I am very into this shirt and in my ongoing theme of planning to endlessly wear a turtleneck with everything, I do think a sheer turtleneck would look amazing underneath this! But for now it's a nice way to flash a little bit of skin with the off the shoulder feature. Again, it's all in the details and quality with this piece. The super stiff cotton gives it the most amazing structure, and it also makes it sit really well off the shoulder - it's not a high maintenance piece to wear which is what I was expecting, it stays where it's put and doesn't fall down at all. I love the huge open cuffs, the hidden buttons, the drop shoulder. It's a great piece to throw on for an evening with your favourite jeans, and you'll be good to go. For now I wore it with my beloved Levi's denim mini and Rochas shoes which I am still very, very into.

And finally, a proper coat!! I am thinking this might be the first coat I am sharing on here this season. It's a totally different style to what I have gone for in previous seasons too; an oversized pea coat. Nothing new with the oversized aspect, or the pea coat style, but I don't think I have had a piece that brings both aspects together before. Of course the colour is a winning factor of this. As you may be able to tell I am really into red and pink tones, and also checked prints so this really is bringing everything I love altogether into one piece. Again, it's a really thick heavy wool and I hope you can get a sense of the weight of it through the way it hangs in these photos. It'd be a great to buy now and take you into Winter, as the colour still gives me some summer vibes too!
Shockingly I kept it simple for the styling, because that isn't like me at all is it?! Some light wash denim and a top I wish I had all Summer and hadn't just acquired now. Finished off with some of my favourite accessories - you always know you're onto a winning piece when it works seamlessly with that you have in your wardrobe already.
