While I don't hugely follow trends, they inevitably trickle down into my day to day looks, and that is the case with denim more than anything else. Changes in styles of jeans have a huge impact on my daily looks too, because we all know how much my wardrobe relies on jeans. The biggest example of this was the switch from a love and obsession with skinny jeans, to a straight leg style. It slowly changed my wardrobe in so many ways, because the looks I was going for everyday started with a completely different shape of denim than before. And I feel another shift going on; into a longer leg length. The cropped jean and trousers has reigned supreme for ages now, I for one have developed ankles that don't shy from even the coldest days, all for the love of cropped denim. But since welcome these Topshop jeans into my life a few months ago, I have been slowly ditching the crop in favour of longer denim styles.
I am seeing longer denim styles come into the high street here and there, and if you are shorter than the world is your oyster because you can just order a long leg length and viola! But for us taller gals we are going to be relying on jeans that are meant to be long, like these Martine Rose ones. I huge investment for me and my predominantly high-street denim collection, but so far they are feeling well worth it. I have a size XS and still had to get them taken in a little bit at the waist, but they are now the perfect fit and I LOVE them! I have them turned up here but they are really, really long (see here), and also insanely high waisted. I love how the shape of them makes such a simple look like this feel totally refreshed and way more interesting, and that little detail of the label on the crotch is something I am loving too.
I have been wearing these most days, just as I would wear my usual cropped straight leg jeans; boots, plain top, longline blazer. Nothing revolutionary from me, but feeling a little refreshed all the same. The blazer is also new and is for Testing Basics which I am mid way through filming now, so I shall refrain from saying too much about this piece just yet!
Finally, who remembers these Jil Sander boots from last Winer? I still love these, and am now swooning over these brogues from the brand too... NEED THEM!
