Living in a certain city definitely makes you immune to the sights it has to offer. Since living in London I mostly avoid the tourist spots, and if I find myself in them (eg Portobello road on a Saturday), it's very much a head down and move as quickly as possible affair. Earlier this week I decided to take my time and have a little sightseeing moment in Trafalgar Square. I think there is something lovely about seeing how many people are taking photos and love seeing the sights, and how much it can make you appreciate your city more. Just as I would go out of my way to see the Eiffel Towel sparkle at night in Paris, or visit the Trevi Fountain in Rome, it does make you realise just how incredible the cities we have around the world are.
For this little excursion, I wore what I would consider the perfect look for a spot of sightseeing in London (temperature permitting, of course). Something comfy is the most essential part of this, and something with light layers you can easily ditch when sweating to death on the tube as you travel from A to B. This oversized leather biker was my choice for that - it has a really 80s vibe to it with the rounded shoulders and cropped length, which is perfect for us high-rise jeans lovers. Keeping on with that 80s silhouette with some white jeans cinched in with a black belt. Admittedly white jeans might not the best option for a day sight seeing as wearing white comes with obvious risks and are best worn when in clean, indoors environments where things like coffee don't have any involvement. But, some things are frankly just worth the risk, and these jeans felt like they really were. Because I had so much oversized-ness (official term) going on, a skinny fitting top was just what this outfit needed. I am madly into jersey tank tops at the moment and this square neck on this one is perfect for everyday looks. It's also available in white and I want that one too.
Finished off with some black sunglasses - these cat eye ones were perfect because they are really lightweight and comfortable too. When we shot these photos I was in the midst of a crazy allergic reaction to something and had THE MOST swollen eyes, so these were an essential for me to hide the fact I looked like I had been in the ring with Mike Tyson the day before. And then the sandals, I wanted something tan for my monochrome outfit because there is something about tan that just makes an outfit like this feel way more Summer appropriate. Plus they were very comfy so I didn't have to be the person who suggested a day of walking and then be the person that whinged about it.
