Have I mentioned I am into red and pink at the moment? Only about 1038201 times! Honestly though I am obsessed, and my new found love for this colour combination has really made my wardrobe feel refreshed and awash with (mostly two shades) of colour. It’s taken me a few attempts to find the best way to make this work in my wardrobe, and so far my favourite method is start with the shoes. Not only is it on trend, but it’s the perfect way to bring a little bit of Spring into your wardrobe… and your step (see what I did there).
So I have two pairs of shoes to share with you today, both from Russell and Bromley’s new Spring collection. The first are these insane pink pumps, I got so many messages on Instagram about these after sharing them on my stories. They are bright, like super bright. I was a little frightened when I opened the box and saw such a vibrant shade of pink staring back at me, but they turned out to be so much fun, and so easy, to style up. Just imagine these with your favourite blue jeans and an old t-shirt, it would completely transform the whole look! While I do have plans to wear that outfit very soon, I stuck with my pink and red theme for the time being.
There are small design features to these shoes that really made them feel special. They have done an amazing job of taking such a classic shoe and making it feel refreshed and modern. The way the pointed toe is mirrored in the top of the shoe, the slight angle of the block heel. Everything is angular, teamed with the softest suede. I feel like it shouldn’t work at all, but it completely does. I wanted to play up on the harshness of the shape by teaming them with the most frayed jeans I own, it really helps to draw the eye to the foot and ankle as much as possible too.
Next up we have what were my safe option pink shoes. I say ‘safe’ because this blush shade of pink was the first colour I wanted to try when I decided I loved pink. It sits so well in my minimal wardrobe, and is essentially super cool and incredible popular on the ‘gram. While this shade has now been completely eclipsed by the previous hot pink pair, I will always love a dusty pink.
And I love it all the more when it comes in this style of shoe. Another classic design that is fast becoming the most popular style of Summer shoe in my eyes. Not to mention the most comfortable you can choose.. this particular pair have a very squishy suede bottom to them, making them even more comfortable. The success in these shoes is how high up on the foot they come to. It's really ankle slimming (in a similar way to loafers often are), and also means your foot is held in well if you sometimes have that problem!
If you are thinking of dipping your toes into the pink/red trend too then I generally recommend starting with a blush shade, I found these easier to style as a colour wearing beginner.
With some old black jeans, a long red and white (looking pink from a distance) shirt dress and a light pink bag, this is one of my favourite looks I have shared in a while! The bag deserves a special mention too as I can literally fit EVERYTHING in here. Including my huggeeee camera which is great news for me but not for my shoulder because it means I will insist on carrying it around all the time now. The photo above where I am holding the bag with one hand was a literal arm workout because of how much I had managed to get in there.
