A Different Take On Festival Style
Festival season is well and truly upon us. From now, until the end of the Summer, I imagine a lot of you have at least one festival in the diary! I have a couple that I am super excited for, and I have already been thinking about what to wear. For the most part, I am not a fan of festival fashion. The typical festival looks aren't my thing - the usual suspects of denim cut offs and crop tops just do not flatter me one bit. So when Topshop got in touch about the idea of a new take on festival style, I jumped at the chance to put a couple of outfits together.
So today I am sharing two looks, both of which I will be rocking this festival season. Admittedly, I have been optimistic about the British Summer - but half of the festival fun is wearing an outfit you feel amazing in, only to have to cover it up with a poncho when the heavens open!
For both looks I haven't compromised the minimal style I love, and have chosen pieces that you can also wear on your holidays - I am all about versatility, so I don't think festival style has to divert so much from what you normally wear that you find the pieces sit unloved in your wardrobe!
For my first look I went with my all time favourite Summer piece; the shirt dress. It is literally my favourite ever style of dress, and looks amazing with everything. As I already mentioned, I was being optimistic about the British Summer here, so I teamed my dress with these incredible sandals. The block heel makes them completely manageable for trudging around on grass, and I always find a slight heel a little more comfortable than a complete flat for when I am on my feet for agessss. A strappy sandal like these are always the perfect statement while still being minimal, and how amazing do they look with the dress? Finally, a hat! A further nod to practicality, this will protect you from sun, rain, and greasy hair! It also looks fabulous and adds a further bit of excitement to my minimal look. And, like I said, you can pack this on your Summer holiday too.
The second look had me feeling so cool, I plan to wear this outfit every weekend of Summer - it's just too good to only rock at a festival. The trousers make you a little more prepared for a cloudy day, and the cropped wide leg is both incredibly effortless and comfortable.
I decided to keep the whole look flowing and slightly oversized - also the perfect excuse to snack on a burger (or two, and also an ice cream and maybe some chips too) without worrying about a food baby. So this top was the perfect piece - again, minimal and a general power piece in your Summer wardrobe. The structure makes it a little more exciting, while still in keeping with the whole 'why, of course I just threw this on in two seconds flat' vibe that I love so very much.
Finally, shoes and sunnies! Of course sunnies are a must, and this round style are my current favourites. And again, in keeping with the idea that nothing ruins a day like being uncomfortable - these sandals are the perfect options.
If it gets a little chilly make sure to throw on a leather biker too - it only adds to the overall coolness of the whole look!
