River Island and Fashion Targets Breast Cancer
A couple of weeks ago River Island got in touch with me to work with them on styling their incredible collaboration with Fashion Targets Breast Cancer's 20th Anniversary. Their new partnership with renowned print designer, Olivia Rubin, includes three pieces; one of which is this printed t-shirt dress.
Now I will be honest, I was scared of this t-shirt dress at first. While it's monochrome, the print felt a little more out there than I would usually go for. BUT once I got to styling it I loved it so much, it was such a challenge but in a good way. I don't know why I felt so intimidated by it, after all it's no more wild than a striped t-shirt is! For the three looks I wanted to showcase a varied level of dressed-uppy-ness (new word, please go along with it) to really challenge myself!

So here I have styled this three different ways, and I am surprised at how versatile I found it to be. When I was browsing online at River Island I really fell in love with this gorgeous jacket. I know, I know.. print AND colour all at once!! These skinny jeans are also some of the softest and comfiest I have ever worn. The main thing I wanted to do was show how it didn't have to be worn as a dress, but would work just as well tucked into some skinnies.
Secondly I've gone for something a little more sophisticated. And untucked you can see the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer logo too. I went with some tailored trousers and a loose fitting silk jacket, also in black to keep everything simple! I am a fan of t-shirt dresses over trousers, and a printed version works just as well as the plain ones I usually go for.
And finally we have what is possibly my favourite look of the three. I love the length of this jacket with the dress, which almost matches the length perfectly! I love to mix shorter items with longer length boots, to make everything just the right amount of awkwardness. It also makes the dress more appropriate for the colder months (which still seem to sticking about), but when Summer is here this is going to be the perfect piece!
Which one of these looks are your favourite? I hope you guys have enjoyed this post, despite it being something a little different. I love to push myself out of my comfort zone from time to time, and there is no better reason to than for a cause such as this one. It saddens me knowing how many people's lives has been effected by cancer, mine included. I have kept this post light and upbeat (a tone my blog is all about), but I couldn't work on a post like this without touching on how important issues like this are to me, and I am so happy to have the opportunity to discuss topics such as this on my blog. While always focusing on what I love most, fasshhuuunnn!
