Party, Party, Party!

So over the next couple of weeks I am going to be sharing a few potential party looks for you. I have a love/hate thing with party looks.. mostly because I don’t really go to parties! I LOVE dressing up from time to time and finding an outfit that makes you feel amazing… who doesn’t love that?! But, I resent buying things I feel like I am only going to wear once. So, this season, I have been on the look out for pieces I can wear again after the party. The first item I have it this incredible dress from Sister Jane that you have already seen in last week’s post from Italy, so my theory that this would be more than just a one hit wonder is already seeming to be correct! I love the print, the shape, the sleeves… just everything!! As it’s FREEZING I did throw on my Jigsaw blazer (we shot this in the evening, as you can see, and it near enough killed me I got so cold!) - I would definitely reccomend a longline tailored jacket with a piece like this dress. But I am thinking it will really come into it’s own in Summer as it looks SO amazing without anything on over the top.

For shoes I had a small trend moment and bought into the PVC trend we are seeing everywhere. It’s one I am really loving, to shoes, bags and coats, it seems to be a really simple way to make a statement. These gorgeous boots were screaming my name when I saw them online, I love the length of them and that killer heel, which thankfully is still chunky enough for me to be able to walk in. How amazing do they look?? I think they’re a fab party shoe as they’re still (sort of) practical while looking amazing and also being a piece you can wear many times again! I am actually writing this from Berlin Airport and I have these babies packed in my suitcase ready to be my companion with any evening outfits.

So, I basically think my biggest tips for party shopping are this:

  1. Don’t break the bank, the high street does such an amazing job at this time of year with pushing out party appropriate looks, so make the most of that.
  2. Look for things you know you can wear again. While the sequin dress may look amazing, not only can you not repurpose that into any day time looks, but it’s such a statement you might not even feel like wearing it to another party for the fear everyone will remember it from last time!

But of course, if sequins are your thing and you feel like having a ‘treat yo self’ moment then go ahead and treat yo self to that gorgeous sequin dress. I would just rather spend my pennies on an amazing pair of shoes I can wear again, and again!
