Sharing two outfits today, both with a common theme - unflattering trousers. Seems to be something I am into as of late, the cinched in waist, slightly awkward length and baggy crotch. They really do sound delightful when you describe them like that, but it's the unflattering style that makes them look so good! So I thought I would share two different pairs with you here today. One are a little more Winter appropriate than the other, but both are a great alternative to denim on a daily basis. Despite their unflattering nature, they are super easy to style. Whether it be a plain white t-shirt, knitwear, something a little smarter - these trousers work with pretty much anything. I have gone jacket-less with both looks here, but if I had to pick a jacket to go it would have been a cropped leather biker, or a longline blazer. I am thinking my beloved black Jigsaw blazer with the black Weekday trousers would make a great oversized suit! The only styling essential with them is to tuck in. I think an untucked top with this style of trousers pushes you into the realm of looking like a sack of potatoes. You've really got to embrace the unflattering style and make the waist the focus of the look. I added my favourite belt for one of the looks, but it does work just as well without a belt too.
The green knit I have on here is a new favourite in my wardrobe too. It's from Weekday who have an insane selection of knitwear at the moment. I picked up a few last week but this one is for sure my favourite, I love the deep green shade and the long sleeves. This colour is really flattering on my skin tone too which has made me generally keep an eye out for other pieces in this green hue! It's currently residing on the growing pile of washing in my bedroom but once it's had a wash I shall update you all on how it gets on. I have linked a few of their other knits here too (I also have the lilac one, and the minty green cashmere, both of which I recommend) because their selection is very impressive, and is coming in at a good price too!
These & Other Stories trousers are also a gorgeous quality. They are a thick wool material - I made the mistake of wearing them in New York and decided to walk over the Williamsburg Bridge to meet a friend. My knees were sweating by the time I got to the other side (it's a bloody long bridge) so I don't recommend you do the same - I know that is a really specific scenario to find yourself in, but don't say I didn't warn you.
This black pair are another Weekday item. Their shop has opened up on Regent Street and they have very kindly given me a few vouchers, hence the sudden Weekday influx. I am genuinely loving the brand though, and having a store to go into is great as the things I like to online I don't love to much in real life, and the pieces I grab in store are ones I didn't look twice at online. These are much more lightweight than the & Other Stories ones (far more appropriate for walking the Williamsburg Bridge), it makes them a little less structured, so they do benefit from a belt more than the Stories ones.
Teamed it with my favourite ever silk shirt from & Other Stories and my favourite ever trainers from Vans. You know I have my favourites and insist on wearing them relentlessly!
