One Cardigan, Three Ways

How to style a cardigan

I think a cardigan can be a tricky little number to style sometimes. There is no denying how practical they are (and also the comfiest everrrrr), but they can be a little frumpy too. SO I thought I would challenge myself to style this one from Banana Republic in three different ways, with no frumpiness in sight!

1. The Perfect Layering Piece

I think layering can be a hard thing to master at times, and isn't something I really consider myself to be too good at. But let me tell you, a cardigan makes it a whole lot easier!! The added texture of the knitwear really makes the outfit seem wayyyy more exciting, not to mention the benefits of it's cosiness too. This time I opted for a t-shirt and a shorter length coat, but I tried on a longer coat with this look too and it worked just as well!

2. Belt It!

If I were to think of smart outfit a cardigan would not be the immediate choice. It's definitely more of a casual wardrobe piece, mostly due to how unstructured they are. However, add a belt around the waist and all that changes. It brings a totally new structure and silhouette to the look! To keep the whole look feeling youthful I went with some killer heels and ripped jeans too.

 3. Keep It Cosy

There is no denying the cosiness of a cardigan. It's definitely the kind of item you can wear out through the day, and keep it on throughout the evening while laying on the sofa watching David Attenborough eating peanut butter out of the jar (aka my Sunday evening). It's great to wear for a day at home where you have to nip out and about, but have got nothing fancy planned ahead.
