HELLO and welcome to a brand new looking Shot From The Street!!! I decided to do this after a few sleepless nights and very early mornings leaving me with too much time to ponder things. It got me thinking about how to really increase my love for blogging, and how could a blog design help me focus on the things I love about it? For years I have had a blog where you scroll and scroll, which I always loved because you could loose hours endlessly browsing. But I was finding that some of my posts were too big, too many images, too long, that the endless scrolling could be a little monotonous. And also that all the posts had to say something, because they all were shown in all their glory, they all had to be substantial. It meant that writing things sometimes felt like a chore, or even looking at 10 photos of the same outfit seemed dull. I decided I wanted a blog where I could share all my interests - sometimes talking about them in depth, sometimes just sharing one sentence alongside several images. So here we have it, a grid style blog. Click through onto each image and you will find the posts you are used to seeing, with lots of rambling down the side and a lot of photos to scroll through. Scroll to the bottom and you reach the grid again, to click through onto the next one, or use the arrows to go through each of them. Some posts will just be sharing what I want to buy, the recent music I am listening too - basically a lot more variation. I am hoping it will let me post more. Like proper old school blogging, you have a thought, you go online and share it. I hope that every time you guys click on here, there will be a few new posts for you to see. Some big’uns like always, with little updates in between. And I hope that despite the lack of endless scrolling, you can still click through and get lost with things on here.
I have also got rid of comments on each individual post. They have sort of become redundant anyway, with only a few comments on each blog, and most people using Instagram to get in touch with me. Instead, there is a chat section at the top. This is a place I hope we can have proper discussions. You an go there to ask me questions and I will get a notification on my email, and you guys will get a notification of my reply too. I can also go on there and start a discussion, like ‘what do you all think about the new Celine collection??’ and then I hope we can all chip in on it and share thoughts. I basically want it to feel more like a space for community, where you can all talk to each other too.
Finally, due to how different the format of the blog, I have to import all old posts. Well, I did a few and decided the boredom might kill me. SO, on the homepage we have the most recent posts, which will obviously grow with time. If you want to see the older stuff, use archive at the top and you can see all my old content there too.
Basically, I want Shot From The Street to be a hub of all my interests. That homepage grid to be reflection of me as a brand, and my aesthetic. The content will be much the same, I just hope to create more of it and in more variation. I am about to go and start the first discussion in the chat section about what you all think about it - please come and let me know!!
